Her storyDr. Janne Lynch, DDS. Sleep apnea care in Scottsdale, Glendale and Sun City.
Dr. Janne Lynch opened AZ Sleep as her second practice for the people she kept finding with sleep apnea: worn teeth, a crowded airway, a partner kept awake by the snoring. Because holistic dentistry is important to us, we have partnered with the medical community in the detection and treatment of the most common form of sleep apnea, obstructive sleep apnea. Here, patients are tested at home and treated without a machine.
The mouth is part of the body. A dentist sees the airway, the tongue, the jaw and the wear on the teeth at every visit, often years before anyone has thought about sleep apnea. We start from that view, add a proper sleep test, and treat what we find with the medical community rather than apart from it.
Sleep apnea is not only a minor nighttime annoyance: it can raise your risk for daytime fatigue and confusion, high blood pressure, and diabetes. The new patient examination is long on purpose, because it is where the results start, and nothing is ordered or made until you understand the plan.
Positive airway pressure, CPAP and its relatives, remains the standard treatment, and for some people it is the right one. Many people cannot live with the mask, the hose and the noise, and stop using it after a short honeymoon. For them, and for people with mild or moderate apnea, a custom oral appliance holds the lower jaw forward and keeps the base of the tongue from closing the airway. It is quiet, small and made for your mouth, and it is medical equipment, billed to medical insurance.
We also care about what we put in your mouth. Appliances and restorations are made from the most inert materials we can use, and the health of your gums and the bone under them is checked at every visit, because an appliance only works on a healthy foundation.
We see patients in Scottsdale, Glendale and Sun City, and one number reaches all three: (623) 387-9878. Many people cannot get to an appointment Monday to Thursday during working hours, so we keep Saturday appointments for them.

Her story
Registered dental hygienist
Joanna has worked in dentistry for more than 25 years and has spent hundreds of hours of continuing education on airway health and the development and function of the mouth, head and neck. The connection became personal when she saw how her own children's restricted oral tissues related to their health, and she has watched hundreds of people breathe, sleep and function better since. She has three children and loves to bake.
Board-certified family nurse practitioner, director of education
Bea brings more than ten years of nursing in interventional pain management, neuro and trauma critical care, cardiology and spine surgery. She graduated summa cum laude from her undergraduate program and magna cum laude from her graduate program at Grand Canyon University. At AZ Sleep she prescribes the home sleep test by telehealth and leads patient education, with a particular eye for the pain and critical-care conditions that travel with sleep apnea.
